Autumn lacecap

If you look carefully, you'll see the tiny green sprout next to the fallen leaf. This always happened here in autumn when the rains come. After months of no precipitation, new life pops up amidst the fallen leaves of autumn.

Autumn Leaf on the Forest Floor
I stopped to take photos during a road trip up into the high country of Northern California. I looked down at the side of the road and this is the beautiful still life that nature had arranged for me.
